Hi,
I am new to blogging, so here it is. I have a new web site porcelainplatters.net . Working on a lot of new pieces, wall-hangings, platters, a whole line of turtles, from magnets, spoon rests, ornaments, bowls, clocks and anything else I can think of. I have my work in a gallery in Tin City, which is a collection of shops and restaurants on the water in Naples, Florida and a new gallery in Ft. Myers, Florida called Green-N-Groovy. I am excited about every thing that I'm working on and what the future holds. I am also taking a course on building web sites so I can have control over mine and maybe help out a few friends.
Stay tuned...
About Walt
- Walt Hyla
- Walt has a diverse and extensive background in the arts. Schooled in commercial art at the Art Institute of Pittsburg, he went on to study at the New York Institute of Photography. Introduced to ceramics in Orlando, it soon became Walt’s primary focus. After his move to Key West in 1975, his work shifted to reflect the bright tropical hues of the Caribbean. This vibrancy is found in his hand-painted tiles, handmade clocks, and custom designed wall sculptures. Moving to Naples in 2003, he is capturing the spirit of Southwest Florida. Walt has exhibited up and down the east coast, as well as conducted workshops at the Brookfield Crafts Center in Connecticut and his former studio in Key West. His work can be found in art centers, galleries and gift shops, as well as private collections. The combination of fired clay and metal opens up many possibilities. All work is one of a kind, no two are exactly alike. With this in mind, colors and sizes may vary. Custom orders are welcome and with the large palette of color to choose from anything is possible.
